DAWN STEELE: LIFE AS I KNOW IT

Wednesday January 27,2010

DAWN Steele, 34, is best known for playing Lexie in Monarch of the Glen and Alice in Wild At Heart. She lives in London with her boyfriend, actor Paul Blair

If I could change anything about myself I’d... have perfect eyesight.

The most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me is... cook for me every night. I’m a very lucky girl.

Not a lot of people know this but I’m very good at... ironing. I find it strangely therapeutic.

To wake myself up I... have a cup of hot water and lemon. I have to get up very early for filming, about 4.30am, but you do get yourself into a routine.

Last thing at night I always... push the dog off the bed. Unless I’m in a party mood, I go to bed at 9pm. I’m such a granny!

If I have time to myself I... go to the gym or shop.

When I’m feeling down I... shop. I know there’s a pattern here but it really works.

My “happy place” is... at home with my boyfriend and my dog – but being in South Africa filming with the elephants and surrounded by the amazing people and sunshine is a very happy place too.

The best thing my parents taught me is... to just be myself.

SEARCH for:

If I can, I always try to avoid... the rain and cold. I’m a beach baby.

It’s not good for my image but I like... crying. I am very emotional, but that’s a help in my job.

My greatest weakness is... crisps.

If I could pass any law it would be... that you are allowed to take your dog everywhere.

The song I can’t get out of my head is... She Wolf by Shakira. I think the video is hilarious too. There are some very strange moves going on there.

My proudest moment was... when I was asked to be a godmother to Daniela and Cosima, two beautiful girls. I am the worst godmother though as I’m away so much, and I constantly feel the guilt.

The shop I can’t walk past without buying something is... Topshop. There’s always something that catches my eye.

The most expensive thing I’ve ever frittered money on is... a car. Amazing at the time but horrible once you realise how much money you’ve lost when you come to sell it.

I know I’m having a bad hair day when… I can’t get my brush through it. I wear lots of hats.

My perfect Sunday is… a morning walk with the dog, then reading the papers, followed by a roast and the omnibus of Come Dine With Me.

On my last holiday... I went to Sicily. It’s such a beautiful place and the food is amazing.

What book are you currently reading… The Help by Kathryn Stockett, a novel set in Alabama before the civil rights movement. It really helped me understand a lot about South Africa, too.

The best day of my life was... when I was offered the part in Wild At Heart. And it’s been the best job I have done.

My last meal would be... a roast dinner. Although I am off meat at the moment as there is so much of it in South Africa, so it would have to be a nut roast – how boring for your last meal!

Wild At Heart is on ITV1, Sunday, at 8.30pm.
