BECKHAM: Has sent a get well message

Saturday July 4,2009

By Natalie Chalk

DAVID BECKHAM'S niece, Georgina Every, 11, is battling swine flu after catching the virus on a school trip.

The England international has been barred from seeing his older sister Lynne and her children – Georgina, Freddie, nine, and Joshua, four. They have been told to stay at home in quarantine.

The footballer thinks the world of Georgina and has sent her his love and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

The youngster was struck down after a school trip to an adventure park last week.

Beckham, who is thought to be in the Seychelles with his wife Victoria to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary, is said to be extremely concerned.

Three children in Georgina’s year have been diagnosed with swine flu after a group of nearly 90 pupils from St Edwards Church of England school in Romford, Essex, visited the activity camp in Hindhead, Surrey.

All the pupils who went on the trip, including Georgina, are now off school and are being given anti-viral drug Tamiflu.

Georgina was taken to a doctor after complaining of headache, sore throat and sickness.

She was given medicine to fight any infection.

Married Lynne, 37, said from her home in east London: “I got the phone call that Georgina was being sick on the holiday and they were bringing the children home.

“I took her to the doctor and he was 99 per cent sure she had it.

“David has been on the phone and he said to wish her well. She is getting better.”

Former Big Brother contestant Imogen Thomas has also contracted swine flu, it emerged yesterday. The 26-year-old Welsh model was diagnosed with the virus after she returned from a holiday in the Spanish resort of Marbella.

She’s now in quarantine in her London flat.

Imogen, who made it to the final few days in Big Brother 7, is staying in touch with friends through the internet and her mobile phone.

She said: “It’s awful, but I’ve been assured I’ll be OK in a week or so.”

One friend said: “It’s been tough on Imogen – she’s such an bubbly and active person.

“To be stuck in her flat is terrible for her. She’s been told by doctors that, all going well, she could be up-and-running in a couple of weeks.”

Imogen went to Marbella with a group of girlfriends but she and a pal both returned with the virus.

The others have been advised to see a doctor.
