UK NEWSTEENAGE CAR DRIVER KILLED
CRASH: The car was being chased by a police car, like the one shown here. Sunday June 28,2009 By Gareth BebbA SUSPECTED teenage car thief who was being followed by police died yesterday after crashing into a viaduct.
The 18-year-old suffered a fatal head injury while a 16-year-old passenger is fighting for his life. Police in Rugby, Warks, began tailing the pair in a red Toyota Carina because it matched one stolen earlier. The driver lost control and careered into a pillar. The incident early yesterday has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission. Chief Inspector Chris Lewis said his officer “followed but this was not a pursuit”. The passenger is being treated in hospital for leg and pelvic injuries and is in a critical condition.
