BUZSAKY: Put QPR ahead

Wednesday November 4,2009

By Daily Express Reporter

NEIL WARNOCK is hoping he can keep Julian Speroni under wraps after he produced a string of outstanding late saves to deny QPR victory.

Rangers moved into the top six after Akos Buzsaky and Palace’s Darren Ambrose exchanged penalties.

But it was Speroni’s second-half performance that ensured the Eagles held on for a point and extended a run that has brought just one defeat in nine games.

Palace manager Warnock said: “He’s the best keeper in the division by a mile and I don’t think there is anyone better in the Premier League. It’s a good job nobody rates him.”

Rangers boss Jim Magilton was left to rue a number of missed chances that should have seen his side take control of the game before half-time.

“Their keeper kept them in it,” said Magilton. “If you look at the opportunities they had and the chances we had, you draw your own conclusion.”

Rangers took the lead in the 18th minute when, after on-loan midfielder Adel Taarabt was brought down by Danny Butterfield, Buzsaky converted his third penalty in five games.

Wayne Routledge should have doubled the score just before the break when he shot wide from the edge of the box after being sent clear on Speroni’s goal.

But Palace looked far livelier after half-time following the introduction of Freddie Sears.

On-loan West Ham striker Sears was fouled by Fitz Hall in the 62nd minute, which presented Ambrose with the chance to fire home the equaliser from the penalty spot.
